At Autonomy, we have been monitoring the raging fire ant situation in Queensland and Northern NSW closely to assess whether our RoadBlock product will be able to help contain the spread of this invasive species. We should know more by the end of this year.
What we do know for sure however, is that, according to research shared earlier this year by the ABC 7.30 Report, most of the spread is coming from the transportation of contaminated materials. This is the simple act of vehicles and heavy machinery picking up and moving contaminated soil, plant matter or crops.
RoadBlock - Spider and Ant Automotive Treatment is Australia's only aerosol product specifically designed to treat and prevent ants and spiders in vehicles. It is simple to use in a way that allows the product to get into difficult to reach places - with a commercial grade formulation that works for up to three months. Not so great for hitchhiking fire ants.
For anyone following this outbreak, you may find this recent report interesting.
